I believe that sub-regions only apply in football. Maybe a couple of other "major" sports (basketball etc). They do not affect competitive cheerleading. How about that single A region with 20+ schools. I know most of those do not cheer but to only have 2 make it to state? ?

If the sub regions don't apply to cheerleading, does that mean that ALL the schools in both sub regions will compete against each other at Region? That is crazy! Some regions will have 4-6 schools in their region and other will have 15-20 in their region. That just doesn't seem right to me. Just my opinion.

The GHSA gives little or no consideration regarding competition cheerleading in region alignments. That was obvious at state this year.

It's true GHSA gives little or no regards to competition cheerleading when making region or sub region alignments but we aren't the only sport that they do not consider. I think the reason for the sub-regions is for sports that play head to head and their final region record counts as to the top four to make it to the playoffs. There is still only four teams but when you have sub-regions, only two from each sub-region make it. Cheerleading, swimming etc have a "Region Meet" to determine the top four. Anything that happens during the course of the year doesn't even matter. Take Chattahoochee for example. They had an exceptional year but had difficulty (30 points in deductions) at the region competition that kept them from advancing. Football takes the overall region record as their only criteria. Maybe someone else can explain it better...??

We should protest! Lets picket line!! hahaha Actually, given some of the travel times for football season and the burden placed on squads who don't have seperate com/game squads, I would say a better idea would be to send the folks in Thomaston some money so they could buy a clue for Christmas.

That' s a good point, you can also add track and cross country to that mix. As to basketball and softball, they'll have a "region tournament" with teams matched up from each side based upon their finish in the sub-region. I suppose that it's the only way because it'd be costly and logistically difficult to have sub-region comps for cheerleading. Especially in regions that do not have competition squads. But that leads to what we saw at state. Good squads being left behind while weak squads from bad regions make it.

That really wouldnt be fair either tho, what if squads happen to just go to comps were they are the only team in that division all year, and have all 1st places, but arent really a state deserving team
